Motivation For Students In Senior Level Education Essay

Motivation For Students In Senior Level Education - Essay Example It is evidently clear from the discussion that sometimes intrinsic motivation is innate in students and the level of intrinsic motivation differs from students to students and varies with the work. While extrinsic motivation emphasises on rewards and is contingent upon outside influences. Sometimes extrinsic motivation can diminish the internal drive to complete work as rewards can at times serve as discouraging rather than encouraging and that would undermine self-motivation and interest of learning new tasks and lessons. Since continuous dependence on external rewards, motivation towards academic and educational endeavours may become unstable. Hence, intrinsic motivation is vital for development and growth in students. Extrinsic motivation is also critical but without the internal desire of students, it would be difficult for the students to master the important lessons and thereby propel and excel in the academic sphere. Therefore, motivation in both forms act as a driving force i n all stages of education and especially for senior level education. To enhance motivation in students in the senior level of education, teachers play a pivotal role. This is a difficult task as understanding student psychology is arduous. It requires a lot of attention as all students is not motivated in the same way and thereby it becomes imperative to understand and cater to individual student needs. Most teachers lack the skills to guide students properly and thus fail to encourage students and bring out their true potential. Guidance of a teacher is very important to keep students motivated. However, it is very crucial to keep in mind that students should be allowed to take their decisions independently and have some choice and control over the issues related to academic. This will keep them involved and at the same time help in developing a strong sense of commitment within them.

Spanish war Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Spanish war - Essay Example The Spanish army composed of 36,000 soldiers, with 41 ships, and 65 artillery, and ready to fight the Moroccans. The Prime Minister of Spain, Leopoldo ODonnell, grouped the soldiers into three forces under the command of Generals Juan Zavala, Antonio Ros, and Segundo Diaz (8). The Spanish and Morocco Hostile relations started on 17th December 1859 after the column commanded by Zavala occupied the Sierra de Bullones. Echague captured the Palacio Del Serrallo and Odonnel commanded a force that landed at a place called Ceuta on 21st December and they waited for to attack. Spain took advantage of its defeat in Morocco during the Eisley war in the year 1844, occupied the Islands-1848, and then waited for another opportunity to get more from the Moroccan territory. The Moroccan Sultan, Moulay Abderrahman lived the last days when the Spanish army stationed in Ceuta building, in a military center attacked, and destroyed the Angara tribes (Bennis, Samir 10). The Moroccans army also brought down the Spanish flag down and splattered it in the dirt. The Spanish consul demanded harsher punishment by people he considered responsible for the incident and declined to hand them over to the Spanish military authority for execution. The given Moroccans were accused of doing to Ceuta as punishment for its inhabitants and its garrison.Morocco tried to have access to Spain for the right to build fortifications, as it deemed necessary for the security of Ceuta. Morocco was granted ten days before Spain declared war and called their armies on the Moroccan soil. The Royal Prosecutor under the Sultan stated that the responsibility was borne by the Governor of Ceuta who ordered the firing of guns against the Moroccans, and he requested an extension because of the deteriorating health of the Sultan. During the Sultans death, Said Moulay Abderrahmane swore the allegiance to his son Sidi Mohammed of Morocco (Ellwood 41). In Spain, these events were seen as

Women, the Hammurabi Code Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Women, the Hammurabi Code - Essay Example he following rules might broadly be challenged these days but their legitimacy in the distant past was considered as obvious (The Code of Hammurabi, 2010): (1) the sexuality of women should be given up to guarantee legality; (2) the assets of the family should be managed by the male members; and (3) women, particularly divorcees and widows needed the help of society (http://www.wsu.edu/~dee/MESO/CODE.HTM). Most women were supposed to marry and raise a family. A reasonable set of love poems would indicate that women did enjoy some authority, but marriage, theoretically, was fixed by their brothers or fathers. As stated in the Hammurabi Code, an agreement was required to perform a marriage. According to the few that exist, the agreements stated primarily what would occur if the matrimony ended through abandonment or divorce, or death, but other passages might let off each from the prenuptial obligations of the other or even oblige the bride to work as a slave to her husband’s mother (Meyers, 1991). The major article to be discussed was the amount of the bride price: If a woman who lived in a man’s house made an agreement with her husband, that no creditor can arrest her, and has given a document therefore: if that man, before he married that woman, has a debt, the creditor cannot hold the woman for it. But if the woman, before she entered the man’s house, had contracted a debt, her creditor cannot arrest her husband therefore (151). It is well-known that unsophisticated societies made use of bride price to pay off the family of the bride for labor loss and Israelite culture limited it to a symbolic amount as a sign of engagement. The bride price in Babylonia constantly became piece of the dowry (Meyer, 1991). The bride price, depending on socioeconomic standing, could embody a considerable wealth transfer, possibly several hectares of land and house—however, at the lower socioeconomic hierarchy it might have been little more than a piece of home decoration

LETTER OF APPEAL Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

LETTER OF APPEAL - Essay Example Respect Sir, I basically belong to the part of the world that is often characterized by the conventional professions and money making sources. These primarily include professions like business studies, engineering, medicine and other commonly tested and practiced professions. In such environments there is little margin for experimenting or going for professions that are little tested and little known. Before I put my case, I hereby state that I am not writing to question the system of immigration in the incumbent country nor do I plan to challenge it through the claims that I may make. I am here only to seek your professionally motivating and sympathetic consideration into the personal reasons which forced me into skipping classes and breaching the original terms of visa where it was conditioned to attending the classes and completing my degree as per initial undertaking. I will also attribute the reason for the overall debacle to the immaturity and hastiness from my end, believing that the dropping out will make my parents realize instead of considering the repercussions and the possible consequences and I hold myself directly responsible for it and do not blame the law, the institution or any other individual affiliated in the entire conundrum that is at hand. To start with the particularity of my case I render an unconditional apology for having violated the original conditions and thereby request a revisiting into the case with possible grant of a fresh visa or nullifying of the decision reached as a result of the acts committed in the light of skipping classes originally. Giving a history of my family, my sister is enrolled in the field of medicine study and she is going well with her goals and there are no records of her dropping out or any other event therefore I can indirectly assure through her practices and her presence ,that if I am given a chance to follow my desired goals, it will allow me delivering the goods as per expectations and conditions

Critical Analysis 1 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Critical Analysis 1 - Essay Example Thesis Statement: The purpose of this paper is to prove that Puritan beliefs and lifestyle were necessary for their survival in the new land of America. Using the works of Anne Bradstreet and William Bradford, the reasons why the Puritans fled their homes, the challenges they faced in the New World, and their goals will be investigated. William Bradford believed that God wanted the Pilgrims to establish a new life in the new land, by building a New Jerusalem. Here they would worship freely, without fear, would establish the rule of God’s laws, and would finally be relieved from the tyranny and persecution that had shadowed their entire lives in Europe (Schmidt 10). During their first year in Plymouth Colony, the Pilgrims faced several hardships including diseases, severely cold winter, and the occurrence of daily deaths. However, many of the colonists survived, mainly due to the leadership shown by William Bradford. They hunted wild game, fished, grew grain and corn, and built a settlement; and the following year celebrated the first Thanksgiving (Schmidt 107-108). Along with a group of other young men, Bradford provided excellent leadership for the progress of Plymouth Colony, but their work did not include that of the Church (Doherty 90). The separation of Church and state that is an important element of the American system of democracy, was initiated in this system that was central to the colony’s government. However, the mission of the Puritans was to spread God’s word â€Å"to both Christians and heathens, to comfort the afflicted, and to offer guidance to those with spiritual questions† (Williams: 52). Besides Bradford’s showed Godliness as well as tact in befriending the native Americans. When the settlement started to thrive, Bradford established profitable trade with the local natives. By the next winter, the Pilgrims had regained their health and strength, and had adequate provisions for all including the supply of wild

Research design Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Research design - Essay Example Implication to professional application is included. RCT potentially prevents bias and reduces confounding Dauphin et al. (1999) were able to come up a significant result concering the bias and precision in visual analogue series (VAS) while successfully employing the RCT. In this study, they were able to investigate the characteristics of VAS especially in the measurement of symptoms’ intensity or frequency. Prior to finding this, the research investigation included study samples under a prevention trial involving supplementation by antioxidant vitamins and minerals of respondents who were 35-61 years gathered from the general population in France. There was inclusion of randomisation from samples prior to investigating the actual point of the study. the same process was initiated during the first and second trials. This means that the actual general data were assumed to represent the entire information obtained from the entire samples. This is a remarkable strength of the st udy because this will eventually reflect on the kind of data that will be used for the VAS. Thus, the study of Dauphin et al reflects the actual framework involved in RCT research design. The RCT in general is trying to create an inference of a particular intervention by randomly employing samples from the entire study sample from a population that should therefore be randomly identified as the treatment or intervention groups and control groups respectively (Bonita et al., 2006, p.50). Below is the actual diagram or framework showcasing the general flow involved in the RCT research design (Evidenced-Based Dentistry, 2013). One important strength in employing RCT as found in the study of Dauphin et al. (1999) is the presence of consistent result, as depicted by the... In some clinical studies, researchers may be looking forward to a specific treatment response of some certain illnesses to a given drug. In this reason, they may be able to compare treatment groups with control groups not receiving the medication. In employing a particular clinical study, the reliability of a certain drug may be proven effective or not because of the associated empirical evidence that one could generate thru the employed research design. Furthermore, there are some studies that would require precise measurement of the actual empirical evidence, so minimising the allocation of bias and other predictive factors has become necessary. One of the most important drawbacks in some studies is the inclusion of probable bias especially in generating data prior to the actual analysis and presentation of results. There are many statistical methods that could try to prevent this from influencing the reliability of the study. However, one common logical approach in statistics is to initiate random trials in response to selecting or acquiring of data. The RCT has relevant advantages and weaknesses, but the bottom line boils down to the skills of the users on how they should properly initiate the research design including its associated process. The RCT is so powerful research design for as long as it tries to represent a general idea about the impact of a certain prevention or treatments applied in a certain population. As a result, it could help determine a generalise conclusion of the general case. Although individual cases cannot be entirely determined, the RCT still proves to be an efficient research design that could be freely integrated within the clinical studies especially in ensuring precision of results and warding off probable bias.
